BATTERIES
Replacing the battery on a modern vehicle is no longer straightforward.
If a vehicle is fitted with an AGM Start-Stop battery then the replacement must also be AGM Start-Stop. The same applies to EFB equipped vehicles.

The GS SMF Battery
The grey and blue GS SMF (Sealed Maintenance Free) batteries are designed for standard ignition cars and light commercial vehicles. Featuring 34 references, batteries in this range provide up to 40,000 vehicle starts. They also boast a sealed maintenance free lid, Calcium/Calcium plates, a state of charge indicator plus an integrated carrying handle and flame arrestor.
The GS EFB Battery
GS’s EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) and AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) range is designed to meet the demands of higher specification micro hybrid and Start – Stop vehicles. Featuring 8 references for EFB and 5 references for AGM, each battery offers high cyclic durability and increased dynamic charge acceptance with the EFB delivering 270,000 starts and the AGM 360,000 starts.
The GS AGM Battery
On vehicles with start-stop technology it is essential the battery is replaced with one of the correct technology and specification. If a vehicle is fitted with an AGM Start-Stop battery then the replacement must also be AGM Start-Stop. The same applies to EFB products.

Battery Management System and Battery Validation
Battery validation is rapidly becoming a mandatory requirement as part of the procedure for battery replacement.
Modern batteries may require a specific pre-charge before fitting with a specific battery charger.
Most modern vehicles come fitted with a Battery Management System (BMS). This must be reset through the on-board diagnostics (OBD) port to tell the vehicle when the battery has been replaced.
The BMS monitors the battery throughout its service life to maintain optimum charge efficiency ensuring the operation of the Start-Stop system.
